Welcome to the Hard Scary. - When I Grow Up

Welcome to the Hard Scary. - When I Grow Up Welcome to the Hard Scary. I found myself saying this to a client a few weeks ago. She was a new client then, only on her second session. But she had already spoken her truth, saw her future dream business, and started planning on leaving her toxic day job before it killed her. Welcome to the Hard Scary. I said this with a laugh and she laughed along with me. The joke was funny because it was true. Welcome to the Hard Scary. I meant so much by this. I meant:  Youre raising your hand for this.  Its one thing to be walking in the woods, come across a bear, and go into fight-or-flight mode to figure out how you leave the situation with your life. Its another thing to walk declaratively into the woods, yell out, Come get me, bear! and put your dukes up. I meant:  Are you ready to walk into this every day?  When it comes to leaving your stable job, willingly stepping off the traditional path that society has told you is the only way to adult, and live your life based on how  you  define success, youre yelling for that bear daily. While feeling the career fear and doing it anyway will certainly both quiet and scare the bear, it never fully goes away, never to return. I meant:  Youre choosing this path because you have to.  I was often told that you only choose to be an actor only  if you couldnt bear to not  do it. If you can do anything else, choose that instead. Make life easier for you. Climb the corporate ladder. Collect the biweekly paycheck and the benefits that come with it. Feel fulfilled in other ways. If you dont  have to be an entrepreneur and/or feel authentic in the 40+ hours each week that you work (thats a minimum of 2,000 working hours each year!), then dont walk into those woods in the first place and that bear wont ever bother (or maim) you. Welcome to the Hard Scary. Where do you stand?
